The amplifiers
Individual creations with distinctive voices
Every Colson of York amplifier is individually designed and built, combining carefully selected hardwoods with analogue amplification and a distinctive approach to cabinet design.
Some belong to collections inspired by Yorkshire’s landscape and literary heritage. Others mark new directions in sound and circuitry. Each has its own identity, purpose and story.

THE TUXEDO TWINS
C12-006 & C12-007
The Tuxedo Twins
The Tuxedo Twins mark a new chapter for Colson of York. These two forthcoming amplifiers will feature original analogue preamp circuitry developed from first principles by Drew Colson, bringing a new level of individuality to the sound as well as the design.
Their name comes from a natural fissure that emerged as the English sweet chestnut timber dried. Distinctive bow-tie inlays, crafted from sapele, will stabilise the wood while becoming a defining feature of the cabinets.
The bow ties inspired the tuxedos, and the Twins were born.
